Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu, or KK as it is fondly known, is the capital of Sabah - one of two Malaysian states that sit at the northern part of the massive Borneo Island.

Visiting Kota Kinabalu

The city beautifully sits facing crystal clear azure waters of South China Sea that is dotted with beautiful little islets of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, with the majestic Crocker Range and its highest peak Mount Kinabalu (4095m) as its backdrop.

This unique geographical setting promises unparalleled adventures from the bed of marine park to the peaks of the mountain range.

Being the home to about 42 ethnic groups and over 200 distinct sub-ethnic groups, Sabah’s culture and tradition are as beautiful and colourful as its natural landscape.

And as the biggest city and main meeting point, KK is the best mini version of Sabah’s diverserved culture, heritage and tradition.

While a leisurely walk at Filipino Market, the city’s most vibrant market, gives an impromptu but yet unforgettable sample of Sabah’s multi-ethnic community, a paid-visit to the city’s many cultural centres or museums will give a more informative understanding.
